This is my body art project. I had shot this over the course of three takes, of which the latest one I used in this video. Each take had to be at least two full days apart in order to have time to fully get back to the original state before attempting to record this the way I wanted it to be. It's a bit of a testament to the process that many women (and sometimes men) go through on a primarily daily basis in order to appear "beautiful" in the eyes of those viewing them. I wanted to make a statement and kind of say something like 'hey, I can take what I think is repulsive and a terrible false facade that people put on, a mask if you will, and break it down into the simplicity of who I am, what beauty is to me, and what makes me feel my best in the face of other people.'

Its not meant as a feministic piece, there are many men in the world that feel they have to dress themselves up to cover blemishes and "faults," though it really gives a fake persona of who that person really is and what makes them unique in their own way. Think of when you meet someone that you may be interested in for romantic or even for platonic reasons, do you want to desire their companionship because they are putting on a facade, or do you want to know them for who they are without the cover of makeup? SOme people really prefer the made up look to natural beauty, and some disagree with just that. I put the captions on either side to make the piece seem reversible, though the viewer sees it one way, it can be "viewed" either way, as the end is leading into the reversal of the images into the actual way it was shot, and therefore leaving the viewer to see it as un-beautifying, or to watch it as it is, and see that beautification is to purify one's image into the basics of nature.

And with that, enjoy the video, as you see it fitting...
